Enjoy the snow in The Three Valleys (Les Trois Vallées) driving a dog sled.
Before you start, the monitors will give instructions on the use and handling of the sled and dogs. You will be teached how to maintain balance and reduce the speed without hurting the dogs in the process. Remember that not only your safety is important but also the dogs safety. This process usually takes between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the experience of participants.
The sleds are designed to go up, and will be responsible for 4 dogs specially trained for this activity. The route is not always easy, you must guide your sled through mountains and woods, dodging trees and obstacles, controlling the speed and brake. The activity requires some physical effort, the participation of children under 12 years is forbidden.
During the activity, 2 monitors are responsible for your security all the time.
Conditions
The mushing company offers everything you need for this activity, you only need to bring appropriate clothing for the snow. We recommend the use of a jacket, ski pants, hat, gloves, goggles and normal shoes. Ski boots are not suitable due to its little mobility in the ankles.
Dogs can be of 4 different breeds, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed and Greenland Dog. All offer the same features and are trained to exercise and resist low temperatures. All dogs have an individual harness and are hooked to the sled by a rope core.
The Mushing begins in the small town of La Plantin, between Méribel and La Tania, about 30 - 40 minutes from Courchevel 1850.
How to get from Courchevel 1850 to La Plantin
First you must cross Courchevel 1650, 1550 and 1300 (Le Praz). When you arrive at Le Praz you find a roundabout where you turn left towards La Tania, past the Olympic Ski Jump. Continue straight on this road until you cross La Tania, and continue straight until you see the sign of the Plantin. You will see a small parking on the right side of the road, just opposite begins the Mushing.
