Autonomous region Cantabria (until recently a province Santander) is not such mountainous as the next Asturias and Basque Regions, however Spanish people consider its inhabitants as mountaineers. The climate and vegetation of Cantabria characterise the "damp" Spain. Cantabria - one of popular resorts of Spain. Internal areas inland are well-known for beautiful mountain landscapes. Mountains and fine beaches are very beautiful. This region is very favourite by tourists, preferring water kinds of sports. On a coastal line there are many nice beaches, some with dunes. The most known resort - Santander where the Spanish royal family spends the holiday in the summer.
